Professor of Applied Economics at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid

JOSÉ ANTONIO ALONSO is Professor of Applied Economics at the UniversidadComplutense de Madrid. He was General Director of Economic Cooperation at the Instituto de Cooperación Iberoamericana, vice-chancellor at Universidad Internacional Menendez Pelayo and director of the Instituto Complutense de Estudios Internacionales (ICEI). He is member of the Committee for Development Policy (ECOSOC, UN), the Consejo de Cooperación para el Desarrollo (Spain) and the European Advisory Group of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. He is specialized in Growth and Development and International Economics and has written numerous articles in academic journals such as Applied Economics, Journal of Post Keynesian Economics, European Journal of Development Research, Journal of Development Studies, Journal of International Development, Revista de Economía Aplicada, Principios. Estudios de Economía Política, International Journal of Development Planning Literature or CEPAL Review. His last books are: (with J.A.
