Manager of COTEC Foundation
Jorge Barrero is the General Manager of the COTEC Foundation. With a degree in Biochemistry and a master’s in Science, Technology and Society from the University of Salamanca, he pursued postgraduate studies in Pharmaceutical Management and Leadership in Governance at IE and IESE business schools.
From 2008 to 2012 he was General Manager of the office of the Minister for Science and Innovation, Cristina Garmendia, coordinating the Ministry’s policy performance and overseeing the public agenda, parliamentary activity and relations with the media, after which he returned as deputy chairman of ASEBIO, the Spanish Association of Biotech Companies, where he had been general secretary from 2006 to 2008. Before that, he had developed his career in strategic consulting in the biotechnology sector and public R&D. Barrero is a frequent contributor to the media and has taught at several universities and business schools.
